Il faro del lido

The work realised for the Caorle Sea Festival 2024 incorporates and develops, for the first time on a large scale, the research work on maps carried out over the last two years in parallel with the creation of murals. Experimenting with an unprecedented contamination between urban art and poster art, Alessandra Carloni chooses to paint on a poster pasted on the mural surface: it is a large vintage map of Venice, which becomes the background texture to accommodate some elements typical of her dream world. Above the map, in fact, thanks to unmistakable brushstrokes of colour, a flying turtle-machine driven by the iconic character often depicted by the artist comes to life. In the foreground is the Lido lighthouse, an important symbolic element for the skyline of the Venetian lagoon.

Alessandra Carloni

Alessandra Carloni was born in Rome in 1984, where she lives and works. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in 2008 and graduated in 2013 in History of Contemporary Art at La Sapienza University. In 2009 she began her activity as a painter and artist, exhibiting in solo and group exhibitions in galleries in Rome and other Italian cities, winning several prizes and competitions. At the same time, she began her activity as a street artist, creating murals in various cities and towns both in Italy and abroad, winning further prizes and awards.

He describes his artistic vision as follows: ‘The images we use try to reconcile us with natural life, to remind us that we are part of an interdependent ecosystem. We like to live in close contact with nature, where coexistence with animals and plants is more latent, in a more respectful interaction. And this inspires much of our painting.’
