National Museum of Archaeology of the Sea

Located at the former Chiggiato Farm at Via Strada Nuova, 80, the National Museum of Maritime Archaeology offers a rich experience divided into two sections. On the first floor, an extensive exhibition presents significant historical artefacts from Caorle and its surroundings, dating from the Recent Bronze Age to modern times. This section provides an overview of the transformation of the village of Caorle to the present-day tourist resort, spanning Protohistory and Roman times.

On the ground floor, visitors can immerse themselves in the history of the brick Mercury, a Napoleonic-era warship that sank during the Battle of Grado in 1812. Through a narrative video and a virtual reality station, visitors can experience the thrill of an underwater dive at the wreck site, exploring the reconstructed full-scale stern, cannons and other fascinating artefacts.
